Welcome to starpet! Our fun-loving and dynamic team shares the ethos: doing good is good for business. Together, we created a platform for South Africans to showcase what is precious to them while giving back to causes that are dear to them.
Our Story
starpet is a product of Starlight Media (Pty) Ltd, a for-profit for-good online competitions portal founded in 2017. Our bootstrapped company was created by a unique team: wife-and-husband duo Debbie and Leonard, and their two millennial “could-have-been brothers,” Tim & Tim! Starlight Media is a true passion project; we all have full-time jobs and handle everything ourselves—from Marketing and Finance to Web Development—with zero agency help.
Our Mission
Our goal is to create value for our entrants, partners, beneficiaries, and shareholders. We are proud that starpet has donated over R2,8m to charities to date. Surveys show that 83% of our entrants would recommend our competition to friends or family members with babies. Over 70% would enter their own little stars again!
We strive to make our competition more fun and engaging for our entrants and believe in continuous improvement. We’re always open to hearing your suggestions!
